Soley

Sóley kommt aus Island und ist eine der Mitglieder der Indie-Folk Band „Seabear“. Seit einigen Jahren ist sie nun auch Solo unterwegs. 2011 veröffentlichte sie ihr Debütalbum „We Sink“ auf dem Berliner Label „Morr Music“. Ihre feine unaufdringliche Stimme und das begleitende Piano harmonieren dabei auf so eine unbeschreibliche Weise, dass man die Welt um sich herum auf einen Schlag vergisst. Lasst Euch verzaubern!

Murder By Death

Bloomington, IN’s Murder By Death will release their sixth full-length album and Bloodshot Records debut Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon on September 25th, 2012.

Known for their uniquely brooding sound that frequently conjures desolate imagery, on Bitter Drink, Bitter MoonMurder By Death capture a familiar tone but also explore new territory, adding a further refined sophistication and even richer, full-bodied sound. The varied album ranges musically from the spooky and spare opener “My Hill”, to the rough, rousing sing-along “Hard World”, to the booming, aching waltz of “Ghost Fields.” Songs like the cinematic “Lost River” start hushed before rising to a lush crescendo, while “No Oath, No Spell” maintains a dramatic, bluesy swing, and first single “I Came Around” rumbles and rollicks with a hard-charging, barroom flair. Singer Adam Turla’s cavernous baritone tells shadowy small-town stories throughout, the songs’ oftentimes-upbeat veneer belying a sordid undercurrent. Across Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon
Sarah Balliet’s sonorous cello and Scott Brackett’s multiple instruments (backing vocals, piano, trumpet, and accordion, to name a few) weave irreplaceable accents, and Dagan Thogerson’s robust drums and Matt Armstrong’s inventive bass lines create a resounding low end.

Kurt Vile

Er war Gründungsmitglied der ebenfalls aus Philadelphia stammenden Band The War on Drugs, aus der er aber Ende 2008 ausstieg, um sich auf seine Solokarriere zu konzentrieren. Seitdem veröffentlichte er vier Alben und vier EPs. Er steht momentan bei Matador Records unter Vertrag.

Viles Musik lässt sich grob dem Indie-Rock mit Roots Rock-, Folk- und Lo-Fi-Einflüssen zuordnen und wird zudem oft mit Bruce Springsteen verglichen. Sein aktuelles Album Smoke Ring for My Halo erhielt zumeist positive Kritiken, unter anderem von der Musikwebsite Pitchfork. Bei Liveauftritten unterstützt ihn die Band The Violators, diese bisweilen verstärkt mit Adam Granduciel aus seiner alten Band The War on Drugs.

Das neue Album "Wakin On A Pretty Daze" kommt am 08.04.2013.
