BEST KEPT SECRET FESTIVAL in it's 1. Edition! Portishead, Arctic Monkeys, Alt-J, Sigur Ros...07.01.2013
On June 21, 22 and 23, 2013 the inaugural edition of the Best Kept Secret music festival will take place at the Beekse Bergen event site (Nederlands). Arctic Monkeys and Sigur Rós are among the first announced headlining artists that will visit Hilvarenbeek that weekend. In total, more than 50 acts will perform on the various stages, including alt-J, Portishead, No Age, Swim Deep and Skaters.
As music fans and concert organisers, for the last couple of years we’ve been walking around Melt!, Way Out West and Primavera Sound, full of admiration. These festivals focus 100% on music, draw a large crowd with a number of famous names, but give at least as much attention to new artists and various musical styles. And so do we. Musical discovery is central to the Best Kept Secret festival.
UK artist Arctic Monkeys and Icelandic Sigur Rós are the first headlining artists announced by Best Kept Secret, together with alt-J, Portishead and various smaller names. Arctic Monkeys will release their fifth album this summer, Best Kept Secret being their exclusive Dutch festival show this summer. Fellow countrymen alt-J won the prestigious Mercury Prize in 2012 for debut album An Awesome Wave, topping practically every end-of-year list. During the last 15 years, headliner Sigur Rós have been building a diverse repertoire whilst en route selling out venues in the Netherlands. At least as idiosyncratic are Portishead who, since trip hop classic album Dummy in 1994, have steered their own course and now appeal to a completely new generation of music fans as well. For Portishead and Sigur Rós, Best Kept Secret is also the only Dutch festival show of this summer. In the upcoming months, Best Kept Secret will announce more headliners and tens of new names.
General sale starts Monday, January 14th at 10am through the festival website.
